The Synagogengasse in Zurich's old town was once the site of a medieval synagogue, which was abandoned in 1423 when the Jewish community was forced to leave the city. Archaeological excavations in 2002 uncovered remnants of the synagogue in the house at Froschaugasse 4. Today, a small, unassuming alleyway, the Synagogengasse, commemorates this forgotten piece of Zurich's history.
